KitNames: About Lease to Own (LTO)
What is an LTO (Lease to Own)?
The KitNames Lease to Own program via GoDaddy* offers an alternative to paying for a domain name up-front, making premium domains more affordable. LTO allows you to purchase the domain name through monthly installments, start using it immediately, and become the new owner of the domain name at the end of the lease period, provided all payments are complete.
How does Lease to Own work?
Lease to Own allows buyers to purchase a domain name over a term of up to 60 months. Buyers select the desired term length, and GoDaddy* automatically splits the total cost of the domain (plus applicable fees, for terms over 12 months) over the selected number of months.
When can I start using my LTO domain?
After your first payment, GoDaddy* will acquire the domain and keep it in a secure escrow account. Once the transfer completes (typically within 5 to 7 days), you can manage the DNS of the domain in your GoDaddy* account. You will immediately be able to build a website on the domain name and set up an email address. After your final payment is made, GoDaddy* will help transfer the domain to a registrar of your choice and update the ownership records. If you cancel before the term ends, KitNames regains domain ownership and keeps all previous payments.
What if I change my mind later?
As a buyer with an active Lease to Own agreement, you can cancel the contract at any time. KitNames cannot cancel a Lease to Own contract as long as the buyer is making payments. If you cancel the contract, you forfeit any payments made up to the cancellation, and no refunds will be available. The domain will be returned to KitNames, and you will not receive ownership of the domain.
How much is the Long term Service Fee?
A long term service fee is added when you choose a period longer than 1 year. The fee is included in the price shown in the Lease to Own dialog. The service fee covers the transfer and renewal expenses of the domain, hosting DNS, providing support for years, and the recurring monthly payment processing expenses.

** 0% Service Fee applies to domains purchased at full price on GoDaddy.com*. When buying at "Exclusive Prices" with Lease to Own option for up to 12 months, 5% Service Fee will be added to the "Exclusive Price".
For terms longer than 12 months, you can purchase the domain directly from GoDaddy* at its full price.
What currency will the LTO use?
All Lease to Own payment terms will be shown in USD on your contract, even if the contract was set up in a different currency. Your monthly payment amount may change if you adjust your account’s currency selection.
